Support Groups and Service Organizations

The following is the contact information for various non-profit, not-for-profit, and charitible organizations that provide services to the transgendered community.

Organizations such as these provide a variety of services. Some offer people to talk with who understand gender issues or are transgendered themselves. Other offer legal advice, and others still provide educational activities such as conferences, seminars, and outreach activities. Of course, all of these organizations are good for networking - to find others in your area or worldwide who can get you in contact with the right people. Best of all, most of these people are fun to be with. Most likely, you will make new friends that you will keep forever.

American Civil Liberties Union American Civil Liberties Union, LGBT Project
The LGBT Project fights discrimination and moves public opinion on LGBT rights through the courts, legislatures and public education.

Amnesty International Amnesty International GLBT Network
Working to protect human rights worldwide. Gender, like race or sexual orientation, is not acceptable basis on which to imprison people.

Buffalo Belles Buffalo Belles
A social and support group for crossdressers, transvestites, transsexuals, intersexuals and other transgendered individuals in the Buffalo, NY area.

Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that acts proactively with other concerned gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) organizations to ensure that transgender veterans will receive appropriate care for their medical conditions in accordance with the Veterans Health Administration’s Customer Service Standards promise to “treat you with courtesy and dignity... as the first class citizen that you are.”
